A minor crime deserves a minor punishment and a serious crime a more serious punishment. But you have to get caught first and it certainly helps if you get someone else to do your dirty work for you. Then there’s the question of who is going to catch you, and if caught, one has to be particularly devious to be able to get away with it. Even if one is as powerful a Member of Parliament and cabinet minister as Maurice Hamilton.
Abhorrence is a way of life for those with such a black heart which feeds off the goodwill of others but vengeance is a two-edged sword which can cut you down in the blink of an eye.

" [...] Just because there's no smoke doesn't mean there's no fire. [...]"
"Catch of the Day" by Douglas Roberts is the first book in the "The Catch" series. In my opinion, it's a crime thriller with plenty of suspenseful elements.
At first, I couldn't get into the story. However, as the pages turned, I couldn't stop reading. The plot is captivating and the action fast-paced. The characters are diverse. Some are likeable, others unfortunately not. I liked Detective Inspector Patricia Eyethorne, who was awarded the Order of the British Empire medal for her services. I was rooting for her.
I didn't like Minister Hamilton's behaviour, including towards a little boy. Overall, this man really got on my nerves. Actually, it wasn't just me.
Is revenge always sweet? Or does it sometimes backfire?
"Catch of the Day" is a very good spy story with incredible twists and unpredictable plots. Here, you have to be careful who you trust.
Can Westminster fall? You'll find out by reading. You'll witness a world full of corruption and betrayal, making this story a perfect fit for our lives.
You'll encounter a Rubik's Cube here that I would never want to encounter. Coming face to face with it is punishable by death.
What does the IRA have to do with all this?
After finishing this instalment, I absolutely must read the next one.
I don't know about you, but I love to spy stories that could actually happen.
This was my first encounter with Douglas Roberts's work. The author captivated me with this story. It's worth reading.
