Is the assassin manipulating the world price of platinum and how many has he murdered? Many such questions challenge Inspector Eyethorne OBE and her Fiancée who haven’t yet decided upon a name for their detective agency and neither have they had the time to fix a wedding date. Their pan-European investigations reveal that the answers are connected and despite Special Branch directing operations, they find themselves being pursued by ruthless gangs across London. Their only options are high-level escapes. Cabinet minister Maurice ‘bloody’ Hamilton enters this toxic mix and he’s out to make a killing; in both senses of the word.

Wow! The second instalment in Douglas Roberts' "The Catch" series has won my heart. In "Slipscatch," the author gave us the opportunity to get to know Detective Inspector Patricia Eyethorn and her fiancé, Justin Crawford, better. It's them, not Hamilton, who will have their hands full. It's great that the author intertwines their private lives with their professional lives. Will they finally set a wedding date? Or does the author have something else in mind for them? I adore this couple, and I am rooting for them. They deserve the best.
Are you curious about who is manipulating the platinum market and why? It's an interesting and very dangerous case.
Why will the public never know about the existence of the DiS intelligence agency? Who is its member?
Thanks to the author, I had the pleasure of being transported, even if only for a moment, to the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. Thanks to the brilliant descriptions, I felt like I was there.
Of course, there are plenty of scenes set in the capital of England, London.
Maurice "Bloody" Hamilton also appears here. Fortunately, he doesn't play the main role in this instalment. When he does appear, it's dangerous and terrifying.
Roberts brilliantly builds intrigue and keeps the reader in suspense. You can't put this instalment down until you know the ending. Once you know the ending, you want to know what happens next. And that's the best part.
The story hidden within the pages of "Slipscatch" is simply captivating.
If you enjoy political thrillers with plenty of twists and turns, you've come to the right place. Here, the action keeps moving and doesn't let up.
Patricia Eyethorne is, for me, James Bond in a skirt.
I'm delighted with the gorgeous cover. It's unique and eye-catching.
