In the dark, rainy, megacity of Utopia a shadow war is raging where two rival entities are waging destructive campaigns for control.
Journalist George Mason has managed to blunder his way into the heart of it.
Due to the machinations of the "pixelated man" Mason finds himself lifted out of his comfortable life inside the city and dropped, undercover, into the alien Commune.
But the journalist doesn't have time to get his bearings. The Commune is in the middle of election season, an election with far reaching consequences across all of Utopia.
Mason will need to navigate through new, mostly distrustful, relationships, political espionage, being drugged and a bombing. All of this while trying not to be lobotomized by either of the shadow players, whose only common characteristic appears to be a sadistic joy of toying with the journalist.
Utopia, the last megacity on the planet. Inside the colossal city walls, anything is possible, and everything is permitted, provided you can pay the price.

" [...] Turns out people are just people, give them a system, and they'll warp it. Give them some power, and they'll abuse it. [...]"
Do you read post-apocalyptic books where dystopia is the main theme? I occasionally read this type of novel. I approached the story hidden within the pages of R.A. Rowlingson's "Utopia?" with reservations. I was somehow afraid of it. Despite everything, I took the risk, and I'm pleased with this e-book. I became empathetic to the fate of the main character, ambitious and narcissistic senior journalist Gworge Mason. He was literally caught between a rock and a hard place. His life depended on what he chose. He had pursued the ideal of Utopia his entire life. Did it work out for him? He found himself caught between two warring factions. He was desperately trying to navigate this and simply survive. I was afraid for him. I wasn't really sure who he could trust here.
I was interested in who the mysterious pixelated man really was. He's quite an influential and important character in this story.
I also met here:
Dianna - the flower girl. Her story gave me chills. She's an innocent, passionate, and very hard-working woman. Will she ever leave the Commune?
Cleo - her life story is quite overwhelming. It's worth getting to know her.
R.A. Rowlingson portrayed his characters very well. He created a truly dangerous world where dishonest and alcoholic citizens are subjected to chemical lobotomies. After this procedure, only a shell remains, without a soul. The brain turns to mush. A person is no longer the same person they were before the procedure. Something terrible. I hope something similar never happens in our world. Seeing such a picture, my imagination ran wild. It was a terrifying experience. Here, you'll discover lies, deceitful people living in illusion, propaganda, and, of course, politics, manipulation, betrayals, and choices.
If you enjoy sci-fi and fantasy novels, you'll love R.A. Rowling's "Utopia?". I'd love to see it adapted for the screen, perhaps on Netflix. It would be a film with plenty of special effects.
In my humble opinion, this dark story is worth reading.
Are you ready for the arrival of "Utopia?"?
