In the dark, rainy, megacity of Utopia a shadow war is raging where two rival entities are waging destructive campaigns for control.
Journalist George Mason has managed to blunder his way into the heart of it.
Due to the machinations of the "pixelated man" Mason finds himself lifted out of his comfortable life inside the city and dropped, undercover, into the alien Commune.
But the journalist doesn't have time to get his bearings. The Commune is in the middle of election season, an election with far reaching consequences across all of Utopia.
Mason will need to navigate through new, mostly distrustful, relationships, political espionage, being drugged and a bombing. All of this while trying not to be lobotomized by either of the shadow players, whose only common characteristic appears to be a sadistic joy of toying with the journalist.
Utopia, the last megacity on the planet. Inside the colossal city walls, anything is possible, and everything is permitted, provided you can pay the price.
