The conference "Towards a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of School Education?" was organised in April 2006 jointly by the Language Policy Division of the Council of Europe and the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. The event was prepared as the official launch of a Council of Europe project aimed at examining the feasibility of producing a common European framework of reference for languages of school education This volume contains a report on the conference followed by a selection of 24 papers discussing the relationship between terms, concepts, notions, understandings and practices of the educational and academic fields in question.
